Strawberry Lime Slushie

Summer is coming soon and you will be ready, with this recipe!

I bought a flat of amazing strawberries the other day and needed to make something so I could use them all before they went bad! Instead of just washing and freezing them, I decided to make this! I love slushies, or "water ice" as they called it when I lived in Philadelphia. But that is nothing but ice, sugar and dye! Yuck.

This, will knock your strawberry socks off and is easy, and healthy too! And is absolutely kid approved! ;)

What you'll need:
-2 cups washed ripe strawberries, tops cut off
-1/3 cup fresh lime juice
-1 Tbsp agave nectar, a little more if you like it really sweet (or honey)
-mint or basil for garnish
(You will need a food processor or blender with that option on it, I used my Ninja)

How to make it:
Throw your strawberries, lime juice and agave nectar or honey into the processor.

(A little hint with limes... if you throw them in the microwave for 10 seconds, then roll them under your palm on the counter for a few seconds, you will be able to easily use a fork and hold a half of a lime in your hand, twisting over and over while clenching your fist, in circular motions to get the juice out, over a cup of course!)

Blend until it reaches the consistency below...it took me about 30 seconds.

Then, pour it all into a tipper ware and throw it in the freezer! I suggest freezing for at least 4 hours. I froze mine over night, and let it thaw for about 8 minutes when I removed it. Then, scrape it with a fork or large spoon until it becomes slushy consistency!
Slice a mint leave or basil if you prefer, and place on top for garnish.
Throw it in a fancy glass, and you'll wow all your friends at a summer cookout! ;)

Extra KICK: Make it granita. Put a 3-4 oz serving in a bowl or cup and top with 1 oz of liquor. I would suggest tequila or peach snapps! Enjoy!
